Delegates
Delegates currently receiving compensation from the Orbit Program are not eligible to receive grants.
Aave Grants Member Involvement
Members of Aave Grants, or the teams they work for, are eligible to apply for and receive grants. Applications will go through a more rigorous review where:
- The application is flagged and the relationship is disclosed in the application.
- A reviewer who is not involved with the project is assigned to the application.
- If the review is successful then the application is brought to the whole review committee. Any reviewer may veto the application at this stage by submitting an anonymous review.
- The relationship is disclosed along with the funding decision in Aave Grants’ reporting on the governance forum.
The maximum grant amount for ‘Aave Grants Member Involvement’ projects is $5,000.
Aave Grants Member Investment
Projects where there has been an investment from one or more members of Aave Grants’ review committee before the team applies for a grant are eligible to apply and receive grants. Applications will go through a more rigorous review where:
- The application is flagged and the relationship is disclosed in the application.
- A reviewer who is not an investor or involved with the team is assigned to the application.
- If the review is successful then the application is brought to the whole review committee. Any reviewer may veto the application at this stage by submitting an anonymous review.
- The relationship is disclosed along with the funding decision in Aave Grants’ reporting on the governance forum.
The maximum grant amount for ‘Aave Grants Member Investment’ projects is $5,000.
Once a team has received a grant from Aave Grants, any member of Aave Grants can make an investment.
Repeat Grantees
A single project may receive a maximum of three separate grants from Aave Grants. Each successive application will be subject to a more thorough review. A repeat grant will only be considered if the grantee has:
- Fully delivered on the milestones outlined in their previous grant;
- Engaged with the community throughout their grant including by posting an introduction to the Aave governance forum; and
- Prepared and shared a report highlighting their impact to the Aave ecosystem and plans for future work (this should be shared in the governance post mentioned above).
In addition to the standard application evaluation, repeat grantees should have a path to becoming self-sustainable without being dependent on grants. Aave Grants does not fund continual product development.
